Ocean scenes most typically emphasize the colors: sand tones set against blue skies and approaching foam tinged waves of an aqua sea. Tropical paradises showcase greens and sunsets shift the palette to warmer oranges and reds. It’s a feast for color craving eyes.
But in my continuing quest to see more simply and to reduce the number of variables to consider at the moment of photographic capture, I am focusing on patterns, textures, light, shadows, contrasts, composition. It’s all black and white for me these days.
So, in my one week jaunt from the Gulf Coast of Florida to the Atlantic beaches of Cape Cod, I shot only in monochrome. Today’s post features Marco Island images. Tomorrow’s will include photos from the Cape.
