Please take 3 minutes and 29 seconds to watch this clip of Jesus calling the disciple Simon the Zealot.
Watch HERE.
The operative section I’d like to call your attention to occurs from 1:40 — 1:55 in the video.
In the scene, Simon the Zealot wants to know why Jesus needs him, and Jesus says something I find to be truly remarkable.
“I have everything I need. But I wanted you.”
I encourage you to take these two sentences with you into your prayer this week. Find a time to pray, alone, and invite Jesus to sit with you. Imagine Jesus looking you in the eyes and saying to your face:
“I have everything I need. But I wanted you.”
Jesus
Jesus wants you. He doesn’t need you; he wants you.
For what, you might ask? Alas, that is not for me to say. Ask him yourself and see what he has to say.
