Prayer Prompt: In His Words

“[D]o not be concerned about how or what you are to answer or what you are to say. When the time comes, the Holy Spirit will teach you what you are to say.”

Luke 12:11-12

How do you think Jesus knew that the Holy Spirit would always be there, in the moment before speaking, to give us the right words? Perhaps because he himself had experienced it first-hand.

Where did all of those clever parables come from? Who thought to compare the Kingdom of Heaven to a tiny little Mustard Seed? Where did the inspiration for the Prodigal Son’s famous return come from? And how did Jesus think up the helpful metaphor of building one’s house on stone?

The Holy Spirit teaches us what to say.

In a quiet moment of prayer, I encourage you to ask God the following questions.

What would you like me to say this day?

Do I have the courage to speak what needs to be spoken?

Will your Spirit really teach me what to say when the moment is right?
