Why is this famous Mother Teresa quote both so wildly infuriating and at the same time subtly, breathtakingly, true?

Maybe because the world feels on fire and who are we to sit in the shade?

Maybe because our neighbors are tormented and who are we to enjoy Sunday brunch?

Maybe because our communities are crumbling and who are we to close the blinds and read our children Goodnight Moon by Margret Wise Brown?

Let’s ask Mother Teresa the obvious question: Is that enough?

Is it enough to go home and love our families when there is so much to do, so much to be done, so much that needs doing that no one is even talking about?

There is a simply truth to these words. I encourage you to take them to prayer and ask God to help you understand them. That is what I will be bringing to prayer today.
