
Joey recently posted an image from our walk along the beach in Chatham, Massachusetts (see here). It was he who first came across this hawk devouring a seagull just under the cover of light brush on the outer shoreline of Cape Cod.
This was quite the feat as he was shooting with a mere 35mm equivalent lens and that required he get uncomfortably close to this bird of prey who looked increasingly agitated by our presence. Here’s proof of Joey’s commitment to the task:

As I had a longer lens (out to 450mm equivalent), I was able to capture the top shot, taken just as the hawk seemed to gesture that it was time for me and Joey to depart.
And that’s right about when we did.
