You could take the straighter path from Phoenix up to Sedona – as most people do.
Or, you could take the winding, occasionally perilous route through the ghost town, Jerome. When the mine went out of business, so too did their prospects. And at the site of the former general hospital, a large and quirky hotel (the Jerome Grand Hotel) has risen in its stead. On the first floor is a restaurant called “The Asylum” and, in a word, recommended. Two words: highly recommended.
The decor is strictly late 1800s. The food is, well, far above expectations.
