
I love and often prefer black and white photography. It’s timeless, reminiscent, moody. But, truth be told, I’m drawn to color. Certain colors. And combinations. For example, if there’s red or a strong orange in the scene, my eyes rush to it like water running downhill. Or a blue tone coupled with tan or beige… same thing.
Color is about light playing off of that color. It’s about how your eye skims over the surface of a composition and then, where it ultimately lands. Black and white photography removes the color, leaving composition and…
And tones and textures. You look for tones (often emphasized by the highlights and shadows) and textures. So, Because 052 for me was about searching for tones and textures.
